Give her some space and then try not to be weird you spend time together again. It can be okay.
Getting a girlfriend could help the situation because you are now "off" the market, and after the initial sting of why her and not me, she can stop fantasizing and just be your friend or hurt it because she will be jealous. Just something else to consider.

Maybe he’s not attracted to petite women. I’m the shortest woman DH has ever been with. The others were Amazons!

Establish a sugar daddy relationship. Put expectations and terms out on the table. She can love you all she wants, you can lean on her/in her. Win Win

I am a 55 yr old man and through my messy separation I have made stronger friendships. One friend (female) has been that person who I consider family now. She has given me endless emotional support and I am so grateful. Yet the past few weeks I have noticed her backing off slightly. I asked her about it and admitted she was in love with me.
I was and am very shocked. I don't see her like that at all and had no idea she felt like this about me.
I now feel awful in that I can't reciprocate her feelings as although I care as a friend I am definitely not attracted to her.
I confided in a friend who said I was mad. She is 32, slim, single, no kids and is a very kind and nurturing person. But I have always seen her as a kid sister especially as she's tiny and looks so young.
I know there is no point in asking but can this friendship ever be saved what with what I know now?
