if you think she is drunk in school I think you need to talk to the Principal. What proof do you have of this?

AS far as the dui, much as i cant stand people who drink and drive, if she wasnt at work this shouldnt be a factor in her teaching.

Why not just approach the school yourself? If school is over, then the teacher is no longer in a position to retaliate. Just report it.[/quote

Would that report be to HR or to the principal? Just nervous about personal involvement—not about retaliation specifically in the classroom.

I had a boss who had a drinking problem once. It was really bad...she would get falling down drunk on business trips. I never reported it, but when leadership found out, they questioned me. I was afraid of retaliation. But it sounds like the OP should be fine if the teacher is no longer her DC's teacher.

Do I have a moral responsibility? Both to her to get any help she needs and to potential future students? Principal seems to be wholly unaware...

Then call the principal. Or send an anonymous letter to the principal. The kind on paper, with an envelope and a stamp.

I don't believe you.

Why don’t you believe me? It was in the court records.

Also to be clear I don’t mean she has gotten violent with students—just that she’s clearly hot headed and has physical fights.

If I have reason to believe my kid’s teacher is an alcoholic and drinking during the school day (my kid suspected and then we googled her and found a recent DUI arrest), then who do we tell? I don’t think this woman is stable and don’t want to be associated personally with making the report. Is there someone I can call without revealing my name? I don’t think she’s fit to teach. Thanks.

Not your place. And school is over.

Wait, how could this be not her place? The teacher is suspected of drinking during the school day.
