I am not surprised. I have seen kids getting out when the light was red before. But drivers are not expecting a kid to jump out of a car when they are making a turn - they do not have visibility to it.
People are so self-focused in school drop offs - and not only at Deal. We do not drop off at that intersection b/c drivers do such stupid things. The area marked no stopping is not saved so you can stop and drop off your child. It is marked that way so everyone - drivers and pedestrians are safe.

Those crossing signals have been broken for much of the year (and yes we told the city).

But all of the crosswalks on Nebraska there are signalized so someone crossed against the light if that is where it happened.
