We age. We become diseased. We are sometimes born and unable to live.

The treatments and drugs stop working.

The predator strikes. The improbable accident occurs. We are born in countries that have little or no access to medical care based on science, and/or countries with no food or water supplies and much of the population lives in need and hunger.

Science can’t fix those things, despite trying.

God can. And does. He’s love and hope.

Do you want to live in a world without hope and love? I don't. Some people find that in religion, some find it elsewhere. It as humans we need and crave those things. At least that's what I believe.
Hope and love... nope, not in my world.

God, being omniscient, omnipotent and invisible, is always available to listen for people who believe in him. Sometimes he answers our prayers yes and sometimes no -- but he's always there.

God is listening to our prayers and deciding pro or con, knowing that his flock will still believe in him, no matter how many times he lets them down. THere's a reason for it, that they don't understand yet.

Have you ever prayed to God?

Yes, but I stopped when I realized the results seemed random. Then I just talked to him until I realized I was talking to myself.

Sorry God didn’t answer your every prayer to your satisfaction.

God is Love (the transcendent quality that unites us humans)
Religion is Hope (the belief structure that helps us overcome suffering)

I think they WOULD agree, they just take exception of their own personal religion!

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/03/opinion/why-we-need-religion.html

Those of us in the secular world who critique such emotional responses and strategies with the refrain, “But is it true?” are missing the point. Most religious beliefs are not true. But here’s the crux. The emotional brain doesn’t care. It doesn’t operate on the grounds of true and false. Emotions are not true or false.

Good article. And even though I don’t have a belief structure, I agree with the premise. Though, I also agree the Marx quote that’s also mentioned can also be true, especially when fundamentalist approaches are favored in a society.
