OP, I think you'll find the people out here are much different than in the Midwest. In some respects that's a good thing. But DC attracts a lot of self-important, judgmental types who are obsessed with status and money. In the Midwest, those types stand out in a bad way and it is relatively easy to avoid those people. Here, it can feel more pervasive. You'll get used to it, but you might have to work a bit harder to avoid those types.

Have sons? If they grow up and live in DC, will they be horrific as well?

My FIL’s wife is a woman who hates men. She doesn’t get that the reason she was divorced twice and now is miserable with FIL (who is not perfect my any means) is that she is herself a narcissistic alcoholic piece of work.

Unfortunately, that's what feminism is today.

Men bashing is a DCum sport. It takes years of training and you have to move up through the minor leagues but when you hit the big time it's a real sisterhood. The women in their 30's trash the men for putting all the child rearing and household management on their shoulders. The women in their 40's love to bash them for infidelity and how when divorced they can't find a guy who isn't screwed up. The women in their 50's have been through menopause (read men - o -pause) and have lost all desire for sex with their husbands thought they still want sex. If you're from the Midwest where people are nice you're faced with an even bigger problem because in D.C. all nice people are trashed regardless of sex.

You just need to find a different crowd of women irl. Online posts veer more towards complaints and the negative than the positive, it's just the nature of the beast.

DC attracts a lot of $hitty people in general. Lobbyists, lawyers, consultants, aspiring politicians...vomit.

I don't run into men-bashing women IRL in DC or anywhere else. It's the anonymous venting on this forum that brings it out.

I think everyone here, man or woman, is putting down the person they’re married to.

Hate men? I’m an early thirties woman from the Midwest. I’ve lived in the area for a couple of months, and it’s seems the vast majority of women that I meet in real life and posts from here are all bashing men. Yes, some men suck, but some women suck, too. Some men are great, and some women are great, too. It’s becoming difficult to meet friends when all the conversations turn into men being cheaters, liars, pigs, etc. I don’t understand his hate for men. It seems like majority of women come on here to put men down, but wonder why they can’t get or keep one.
