Oh, I just reread the title of your thread. You already know it is entitled and rude. What you are really asking is if either the airline or other travelers will fix your problem for you once you are on board. Sorry, I don't know.

It's not crazy but if your plan is to show up and ask people to switch for you because you wanted to save money, it's incredibly entitled and rude.

Amazing someone would ask this after the 10 page thread the other day. I say go ahead, but again don’t get upset if no one switches for you. It’s not just middle seats, but people like certain locations on the plane and they’re entitled to that without you thinking they’re assholes.

Yes I hate when parents don't pre pay for seats and then try to make those of us who DID pre pay move.

Ideally at check in is when you get that resolved. I’ve done that- they can get you seats together(but note that I’ve done this with a 2-3 year old). Not sure if they will be helpful with much older kids.

Yeah, this one is low risk, unless you end up way at the back and someone doesn't want to swap for some reason.

Save the money. You will be able to sit together.

I'm a single mom and regularly fly alone with my kid. I have never been separated from my son, and have never paid to select seats ahead of time. In the rare event that we initially get seats assigned that aren't together, the airline has fixed it in advance of the flight. I would save the money.

What if your four seats are all over the plane with no two together? I simply wouldn't want to go through the hassle of negotiating my seats once on board.

We have small kids and can save a bunch of money if we don’t pay to select seats before check in. Ordinarily I wouldn’t do it but the plane is two seats on each side of the aisle so we won’t be trying to switch middle seats for non-middle seats if we can’t get seats together. Is this crazy?
