Excuse me? As a Japanese, I take offense you would mention the two in the same sentence.
The clothes OP describes are nothing like the Japanese Shinto spiritual practice.

Probably Muslim because it is Ramadan and so there are lots of family parties. Sounds like this family was dressed up.

If you saw home you would not think he’s from Mexico.

Thank you for sharing about your brother today.

Sometimes you can’t tell a person’s race, gender, ethnicity, or country of origin by their appearance.

Or their religion from their bow tie.

I would guess Central Asian or Middle Eastern he close fitting hat and flowing clothes, which means they could be Muslim, but the outfits you describe on the adults are likely cultural, not religious, and buttoning up your shirt when you wear a tie is common across most cultures.

Man, pregnant woman, six year old boy. All Caucasian (doubt it matters, but just in case?)

Man: all white - pants and tunic type top. Hat fitted close to skull.
Woman: dress to ankles, white, flowy
Boy: dress pants (black or khaki, can't remember which), short-sleeve button down shirt buttoned all the way up to the top button, BOW TIE

Nation of Islam? I've done a bunch of searching online and this seems like the closest match but I'm not sure it was right.
