It's no small irony that often the biggest, most vocal proponents of veganism also tend to be strident opponents of those with that "similar cause and belief system".
Which certainly seems to prove one thing: not eating meat seems to make one blind to hypocrisy.

Definitely a LOT of orthorexia going on in the vegan community. And the paleo community... and whole30. But yes, it's definitely prevalent in a lot of the vegans I know.

Because they feel a moral imperative to stop the needless killing of animals. People who believe something strongly SHOULD be "preachy" about it. Doesn't mean you have to listen.

Almost all of the Vegans I know use it as a tool to control an eating disorder. So, for example, instead of having to explain why they're not eating the eggs, baked goods, fish, chicken, steak, etc, they just say "I'm a Vegan."
Since veggies are so low calorie, they get to lose or control weight and their food intake without having to explain themselves over & over to watchful friends.
