So do mine! I have a dog that poops there too. Somehow we've all survived.

But you don't have to worry about my dog, he won't poop in your yard.

I post small signs that the lawn has just been treated with chemicals that are toxic to dogs, and that I'm not civilly liable for any illness or death of an animal that was permitted to walk on the grass, since I provided adequate warning.


This keeps dogs from being walked on my property.

Have your dog crap someplace else. I'm not your toilet. Would you like it if I followed you home and then took a dump in your yard? No? Well why do you think it's ok to do so in mine?

It is very kind of you to even think about this, OP. I am just thrilled that you already pick up what you can, and that you attempt to have your dog do his business on the part between the sidewalk and street.

We have kids running around in our front yard all the time, and I greatly appreciate that you are such a considerate pet owner! Thank you.

I don't mind traces as long as the owner picks up the poop. I have confronted people who blithely walk away as if their dog left a pile of gold coins on my property.

My dog won’t poop in our yard. We really don’t have one anyway, and nothing fenced off. And he wouldn’t poop in the street in a million years. We aim for the strip between the sidewalk and street if we have to, but mostly try for the open spaces in our neighborhood.

But sh*t happens.

OP, i don't pull out the grass. I figure the sun will dry out any smears. Where I live there are no sidewalks, people's property comes to the street. Most of us in the neighborhood have dogs and it's normal for them to poop on grassy or woodchippy or stone areas.

OP here. I should have explained that in neighborhoods with sidewalks, I have her go on the part of the grass between sidewalk and street. When there’s no sidewalk, I try to make her wait until a no-man’s-land type of spot, but sometimes she just has to go, and then I have her go as close to the road as possible. So I’m wondering about those scenarios where there was no way to avoid it and she has smudgy poops.

I am a petowner and even though it is not always possible, I lead my dog away from grassy expanses and look for more neutral, curby, woodland type places, so I don't have to worry.

And people who are very particular, just put up those discreet signs. I will steer very clear.

This has to do with pets, but it’s in this forum because I want to hear from people with lawns.

When walking my dog and she poops on your grass, if the poop is soft it doesn’t all come up when I pick it up. Some soft poop clings to blades of grass. Would you rather I rip out that chunk of grass, to get rid of the poop, or would you rather keep the grass and have traces of poop on it (until it rains)? I tried rinsing it off with the water from my water bottle, but that didn’t work.
