We are exactly the same schedule. When I was home on maternity leave the first time, I had the cleaners in 3x per week. It was dead of winter and I was recovering from c-section and post-partum ruptured stitching.

I have a housekeeper who comes in 3x a week, from 10-5. She makes $2k/month with 6 weeks paid off. I consider her family.

We had a maid who lived with us for many years. When kids were young, she was more involved. When kids grew up and we don't need that much cleaning, she comes only in the mornings, sometimes for deep cleaning, sometimes just to pick up stuff around and to do laundry. I ask her sometimes to help me with meal preps (mostly with cleaning after I cooked) or help around when we have a large party. She is now working during the day for other people as well.

We have a housekeeper come by 3 times a week for $100 for 4 hours. It’s obviously a luxury, but it’s awesome.

We found her on care.com. It took a long time and a few false starts, but we wanted to find someone who really needed a minimum of direction. She does some basics each time she comes - kitchen clean-up, making beds, etc. She rotates through laundry, deep cleans, and other tasks like a pantry clean out or closet organization. Since she’s paid hourly, we can make requests like helping prep for a birthday or guests - knowing less will get done somewhere else but it will all be fair in the end.

Do they have a bunch of kids with nannies? How is the house getting dirty enough for 3 cleans a week if they are at work so much? Do they do different tasks each time, like laundry, deep cleaning, baseboards etc?

So they're paying the housekeeper $1,000 a month for cleaning. That's a pretty nice and steady gig on top of whatever else the cleaner is working on.

Yes, but look at the IRS requirements for contractor vs employee. You could use a service or hire a housekeeper.

We got someone that does 3 hours twice a week on care.com.

Most want a minimum 4 hour shift. Two hours is not worth the travel to and fro.

Of course you can. Just be willing to pay. That sounds like a $50 a visit job so at least $300/week to your housekeeper.

I have a friend who had a cleaner in twice a week, so it definitely exists.

Is it possible to hire someone to come in for two hours per day to do some housekeeping with the tasks varying each day? The person would have a few tasks that get done each day -- vacuuming and tidying the kitchen, for example -- and other tasks as assigned (Monday might be stripping and remaking beds, Tuesday could be cleaning two bathrooms, Wednesday, thoroughly dusting and folding laundry, etc...). We would benefit far more from daily upkeep help than cleaning once a week. Does anyone have this? If so, how did you find the person doing it and how much are you paying them? We live in NW DC.
