I think I'm in the process of switching from auto-pays from my checking account over to auto-pays from a credit card. I had 2 unauthorized charges from Verizon drawn out of my checking account over the course of a couple of weeks. They were small charges, so maybe they thought they'd go unnoticed. My bank was good about crediting the amounts back and disputing the charges, but as part of that I had to de-authorize Verizon from that auto-pay and switch it to a card. Most likely will change all my bills over to credit card payments because I'm finally in a position to not carry a balance and I have a card that will put the 1.5% reward into a 529 account.

I've switched back to the old school check method with a few who won't take a credit card instead of my checking account.

I had a bill set up as auto-pay from my checking account. Their system had a glitch and they hit my account 3 times. The bank said to call the company for a refund as there was nothing they could do on their end. The company said they don't give refunds and the extra withdrawn funds had already been applied to my account which now had a credit balance. This wasn't a small charge either; it was $3200 total.

The same thing happened with my health insurance that was on auto-pay on a credit card but I was easily able to dispute the duplicate (5 of them over two days!) with my credit card company who refunded them ASAP.

you spend 10000 per month?

Not PP but yes, we have that same card and spend that much every month.

When you average big purchases and travel with regular monthly bills, we do.

That's a lot. We usually charge 3-4k/month on CC and that feels like a lot for us.

I have Capital One, and heard they just came out with a credit card where you earn stuff on them. But I'm not good at understanding how that works, so I am only thinking about it, but may not do it.

You do have a credit card. A Gap one.

A lot of bills need to come straight from your checking account. I get a discount on car insurance if I have a "direct pay" set up from a checking account.

If you get cash back or rewards (we do) we use our CC for everything else. Groceries, gas, any shopping etc. But we pay it off every week because we don't want to carry a balance. We just want to get the rewards.

CC only if 1) you get something back from CC (I get 2% cash back) and 2) you pay in full every month.

Otherwise, checking account.

This. I LOVE paying bills with my credit card because I get cash back and pay my cc bill in full.

DH travels a lot for work and can rack up 3k just in hotel charges each month, 2% of 3k is $60! Cash back adds up very quickly.
