The rule is that if you have 60 days or less before the end of the year, your child can stay. If it's more than 60 days, then your child needs to move. It's possible you can get the principal to relax the rule if you have good reason (i.e. special needs, child care, etc.). But, expect that the rule will apply and make your decisions accordingly.

We have looked at moving elsewhere, but the houses aren't as nice for the budget we were looking at.
Yes we are looking in the neighborhood as well.

Generally, 22033 is less expensive than 20171.

Since you are posting on a "schools" forum, I assume that is your concern. Looking by zip is not the best way to do that. For example: 20171 includes boundaries for Westfield, Chantilly, South Lakes, and Oakton High Schools.
I am guessing that other zip codes similarly include several schools.

Where do you work?
22152 seems to fit the bill as far as schools, pools and library. It may offer good commuting options depending on where you go. Housing is reasonable for the area.

We currently live in 22033 Zipcode . Great Schools ( GBW , Rocky Run MS and Chantilly HS) and all other amenities like Parks,Library and Pools are close by. Reason for shifting is we are going out of space in our current home and kids are 5 and 1. Our DS will be starting ES this fall.
We are looking into
22033 ( expensive for the size we are looking and also not many homes in the market)
20151 (not many homes in the market )
20171 - Workable budget but moving from 22033 to 20171 is a hard decision. There are both plus and minus
Would appreciate all your advises and suggestions while we are going through this process.
