I’m not even sure they’re open or if they will be when we are going. We have friends in Honolulu who said they felt the quake. And friends in Kihie who say it's pretty voggy right now. I don't think OP's question is all that crazy.

This volcano has been doing this off and on for 30 plus years and even any VOG will be taken away by trade winds. I never even felt the 6.9 quake the other day.

Trade winds blow in the summer most of the time so the vog will blow south/southwest from the volcano which will be away from any other island. I would go.

You'll be fine. I lived in Hawaii for 13 years. We had eruptions regularly. Depending on where you are and on the weather, you may have to deal with some ash. I probably would avoid the Big Island simply because the airport could be crazy. However, we at KMC when the volcano was really active and it was amazing!
