This is OP. We actually live in Centeal America. We’d need to take and expensive flight to use our cheap tickets.

After seeing your update, is there anyone in your life who might want to use the credit and could give you cash? Or did the tickets have to be used in your name?

I appreciate all of the advice about forcing ourselves to take the trip but Norwegian doesn’t fly from our home city. We had an elaborate summer plan that included visiting family and then flying from there to vacation. Not sure we’d be able to make it worthwhile to buy five tickets from our home to a city serviced by Norwegian to use the credit. Without three kids, sure we’d do it, but as a family of five it doesn’t seem realistic. Fingers crossed on the chase travel insurance.

Get a credit for a future trip. Force yourself to take the trip to use the credit.

My spouse needed emergency surgery so we had to cancel our trip to Hawaii. We ended up using the flight credit for a trip to the Caribbean later on (first class given the credit).

There's a serious illness in my family and we can't go on our trip to Europe. This means I just eat the price, right? Not likely to use the tickets anytime soon so I can't change them.
