It's a tough year. Every school became more selective, and the same kids got in leading to lower yields than usual (since those students can only end up at one place). Even the tippy top elite schools are going to the WL extensively this year. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

OP, your kid and your family are screwed. That college is starting to drop in prestige. Everybody is going to think their graduates are losers. Just kidding - CHILL.

Supply exceeds current demand. Do you worry that you shouldn’t buy something at the grocery store simply because, if you do, there will still be more available to others?

Don’t take it to mean that the schools on the list didn’t reject applications. They most certainly did. They just have open spots for the right applicants.

You are concerned about what op? They obviously miscalculated yield this year. It happens.

This happens every year. Many colleges and universities wind up with what are typically non-gigantic numbers of vacant freshman seats. This is especially true of private colleges; many publics are perfectly happy to not have to subsidize unfilled seats. Monitor but do NOT panic.

Over 50% of colleges did not meet their recruitment goals last year. It appears to be a combination of a smaller population of college-aged people, very high prices causing people to look to state schools and low-cost options, and increasing feeling among applicants that over a certain $ tuition, only a very well-known name will do.

I do think there's some restructuring on the horizon, and it's worth doing a news search of the college to make sure they aren't in the process of making changes you might not like. But otherwise, I wouldn't worry too much.
