We’ve stayed at this hotel once, and a good friend of mine has stayed 5 times:

It’s within just a few blocks of the RER (train from CDG airport ) makes it easy to get in and out of city. Can walk or metro to much of the heart of Paris. Close to Notre dame and st Michel. Enjoy your trip!!

This looks great, thanks, PP. They appear to possibly be booked for twin rooms for our dates, but I've sent them an email. Any particular Airbnbs you've tried there that you'd recommend?
And good advice on Astotel, I'll look into that chain too.

These days I always go for AirBnB apartments.

The last time we stayed in a Parisian hotel we stayed in the Hôtel De La Porte Dorée. It's a bit off the tourist path but an easy subway ride/transfer to all the main sights. And you're in a very "local" area. This is really where the Parisians live, with few tourists around. The hotel is a classic old French midrange hotel and charming, and best of all, it's directly across the street from one of the best patisserie shops in all of Paris! Fabulous croissants and pastries and we happily munched on them daily for breakfasts (the sad reality is that not all croissants in Paris are equal, many if not most are pretty dull). There's a metro stop across the road too. The neighborhood is a quiet area southwest of the Marais/La Defense.

The Astotel chain is my favorite. Inexpensive, free breakfast and charming. And they offer free munchies at all of their hotels after 1pm. As long as you’re a guest in one you can pop in any of them for refreshments.

That looks adorable! Alas, it is booked for the week we're looking in late June.

Hotel Clement in the 6th arr. (St. Germaine). Charming, walkable to everything, plus right by three metro stops. Loved it!

Hotel de Nesle

Latin quarter, on a very Parisian little street. Funky inside but the outside is very traditional and highly convenient
