I hope your not adjusting your child’s age at this point- that stops around 2 years old. Now with that being said, my twins born at 28 weeks still have some developmental challenges, although, I don’t adjust their age anymore as they are 2.5. I do attribute some of their hurdles to a premature birth.

There are august kids competing against older november kids.

My preemie got a 140 on the cogat. Not necessary to argue for the ridiculous.

My kids came to us from China (adoption) at ages 3 and 2.5, respectivelt, but, yeah, they still have to "compete" on a level playing field by now, even though both also had cleft lip and palate until we got them, and this impeded their phonological processing, reading, and spelling, and verbal communication. But what are ya gonna do? Honestly, I think it all evens out in the end. Save it for the college application when they ask about grit. .

There is a spot on the parental questionnaire where you can say if you want to explain anything. I suppose you could mention it there but I don’t know that I would recommend it. Presumably if you think you need to explain it at this age, you are working with specialists so perhaps they can provide feedback on this point.

Your child will still be compared to same age peers too.

AAP testing starts in 2nd grade right? If you still talk about your kid's adjusted age at that point, you should consider counseling (for yourself).

Ugh! First not all preemies adjust. My seven year old was a micro preemie and he still has issues, “may never adjust.” So tired of everyone thinking because he survived it is all OK. But still - I don’t think his age should be adjusted for some test. Might as well hold him back a grade. It is 4 months? I don’t get how adjusting would work.

They don't. They go by DOB.

Just curious how does FCPS consider age normed scores for preemie born kids whose birth age is some thing but real growth is based on a different age.
