Subject: Volvo SUV dream went south, need plan B for a reliable family car.
Love my MDX after having had a Volvo wagon for years. The size and drive is great, good storage. And I really like the service at our local dealer (we have had another Acura for over 10 years and no issues beyond normal maintenance). I think it's important to feel comfortable with the dealer and where you'll be going for maintenance as part of your overall decision-making. I loved my last Volvo (totaled in an accident, but kept us safe!), but I really hated the dealer service department and that was a big factor in not getting another Volvo.

I desperately need a plan B. What car brand /model would you recommend that would have comparable size
and good safety features but would be reliable and safe?
overreaction, it's still the best suv out there. google the brands and you can find even more.

Another vote for the Forester. I wanted a Volvo and didn’t get it for various reasons. We had a Benz SUV for awhile and had issues with the onboard system after just a couple years. Have had a Subaru Forester since and it’s been great. The redesign of the Forester (2016? 2017?) brought the height up and the look is much more in line with a luxury SUV rather than that low chassis hatchback feel.

I have a 2018 Highlander Limited Platnium. It has all the bells and whistles and only cost me $42,500 and I got Japanese reliability.

Maybe the Audi Q7... We were looking at Volvo then got a fully loaded Subaru Outback. The trunk space is much better in the outback than in the Forrester.

Why were you so set on the Volvo? It is curious choice, to say the least. Expensive with conveying status, unreliable, unattractive and just boring.

All the others listed here are bumpy rides except the Audi. Have you looked at Acura or Lexus if Audi is too steep?

I have had my XC 90 for more than 2 years and have never had an issue - not one. If you wanted the xc 90, the Forrester, Highlander and Pilot aren't going to make you happy - the Audi maybe

I love my Honda Pilot. I have a 2016 model and love the safety features. It’s been reliable for me so far. I had never driven a Honda before this, always Toyota, and I have been impressed with it all around.
