Good grief, go spend some quality time with your kid at preschool once in a while. What is wrong with parents who do not want to interact and get involved??? One of my kids is 8 and we still are involved with school activities they have!!

OP, I had to laugh because I responded up thread to this and have never been to one of these types of events in four years of preschool across two kids, though I do work relatively nearby.

And then DC2 comes home today after an animal visit at his school today and says "the next time we have the animals come, please can you come visit during it?" Gah! Guess I get to go check one out after all...

What an odd post, OP. I would imagine that they will not be bringing a farm, but some animals. Perhaps some chickens and sheep?? If you want to go, go. If not, go get your nails done.

I'd interpret the invitation as if you work across the street from the center and want to take 20 minutes away to snap a photo of your kid with a bunny, then you'd be welcome. Otherwise, nothing to worry about skipping.

Thank you, I went and this ended up being the most true response. Only 2 other moms were there. 1 who rode her bike there and another who works 5 mins away. It's confusing to determine sometimes with preschool events because I think they have more flexibility and creativity in their events. BTW it was so adorable because they had 2 Shetland ponies and gave every child a ride. And my 5 year old daughter wanted nothing to do with me...she wanted to stay with her school friends which is good but kind of made me sad that she's growing up so fast.

You mneed to consider how your child will react if you show up for a half hour and then leave. Many children would get upset at this because they expect to go home when you show up. If your child is like that I would not go.

If you're invited, you are free, why not? I loved being able to go to my child's school whenever possible.

I don't know that I'd take a day off of work, but if you stay at home, isn't that what it is all about?
