Wait, pp is "snobby" because she doesn't want her family to live on a toxic waste dump, but the neighborhood is great because lots of doctors live there?

I think the community feel is very centered around the pool and the elementary school. If you've driven around recently and not seen many kids, remember that we are coming out of a cold, long winter, (plus spring break!) so maybe try again in a few weeks. Mantua elementary is a great school but very large. I think a nice neighborhood nearby that feeds into Wakefield Forest (also a great school) is Truro, but not everyone likes the contemporary home styles.

Here's the old city paper article, if anyone's interested.

Our realtor would not take us to see a house there.

They bought like 100 houses; surely they have passed them on to rubes from out of town by now.

Are the neighborhoods with lots of kids closer to the pool and elementary school too?

Most of the houses sold in the last few years seem to be sold to families with kids as the original owners downsize. There are tons of kids. If you want to bike there are bike trails that run though the neighborhood. Very active moms group and the pool is always full of kids. People are very friendly. Elementary school is in the middle of the neighborhood.

OP here- no. The site of contamination 20 years ago was contained to a few houses.

There have been several topics about Mantua. I kept hearing about the community feel of Mantua (i.e. lots of kids and neighborhood events). I have visited a few houses in Mantua off of route 50 and somehow didn't get that impression. There aren't that many side walks and didn't see that many kids around on a few occasions I drove around (in fact I got the feeling the community has more older folks). Also due to the lack of sidewalks, somehow I feel that houses are disconnected from each other. For people who have lived in Mantua: 1) is the lack of sidewalks a source for safety concerns (i.e when kids ride their bikes or scooters) and 2) which divisions within Mantua have more kids or you feel more close-knit?

Thank you.
