A cruise would be great. You don't need to go to the beach even if you have a port day in the Caribbean. You could do a cultural tour/excursion (and you'll always have the option to go to the beach for a little while if you like---noting that your kids might enjoy the calm and warm waters of the Caribbean (especially if you throw in turtles, stingrays and colorful fish).

Another option: city based vacation. Focus on southern cities or head outside the US.

Go on a cruise. Plenty of activities for the kids on board and you are never anywhere long enough for them to get bored.

I was also going to suggest Scottsdale.

If you're willing to look at Mexico you might as well look a bit further afield to places like Costa Rica. There's jungles and mountains as well as beaches so you could mix things up.

I went to Santa Fe for winter break once. It was very very cold. I think that is not uncommon.

New Orleans would be perfect. Could also do Charleston

Nowhere in the US other than by an ocean can you *count* on highs reaching the 60s every day during the winter.

You do know that Mexico has many resorts with hotels...and pools. What 4 and 8 year olds don’t love hanging out at a pool?

What sane individual would take kids to crime-ridden Mexico??

Trying to figure out Winter break plans for an 8YO and 4.5YO. We don't ski and ideally not beach-centric. We've done San Diego and LA. Any place warm (60s would be fine) in the US I'm not thinking of? Open to Mexcio, but looks very beachy. (Kids get bored of the beach by the 2nd day).
