Subject: Where do you usually spend your PayPal balance?
I keep the balance in there for things like March Madness pools and other casual gambling. The organizer usually collects the $10/$20 via paypal. Also to pay friends when we have a weekend trip and need to split expenses.

I use it to pay for stuff online.... Amazon, Target, any place that accepts PayPal as payment.
I also will not link it to my main bank account but have a Capital one 360 savings account that I keep almost no money in that I link it to so that if I do want to transfer the money out, I can. I have venmo linked to the same account.

Link it, transfer the money and then unlink it. That's what I do. You can also set up alerts on your bank account to be notified each time a withdrawal or deposit happens so you can act immediately if you suspect foul play.

OP here, for some weird reason I don't like the idea of linking my bank account (someone told me a story once how their PP account was blocked by mistake and they had to go to great lengths to unlock the bank account that was associated with it).

Never had that problem before, but somehow I accumulated money in my account and I don't really know where to spend it. I used it before to pay for the school Scholastic orders, some apparel websites, and repaying people when I didn't have cash on me. What is the easiest way to spend the balance on things like groceries, paying bills, and other everyday stuff?
I have ordered their cash card today, so there is that. I don't really want to link my bank account unless I absolutely have to. Is there anything else I don't know about? Some gift cards, yes, but the choice of them is limited in places where you can use paypal to pay.
