Op here. Dh will be driving from DC the same day/ time. He really wants to meet us at the airport.

I love how important details get trickled out slowly.

It's actually relatively easy to get to JFK from New Jersey because you can cut across Staten Island, cross the Verrazano Bridge, and take the Belt Parkway to JFK. You don't go through Manhattan at all. If he's already going to be in the car, and won't have to drive back and forth from Manhattan, and will have your carseat with him, it will not be that much extra driving to go out to JFK and then into Manhattan. Just make sure he uses Waze- there are a few ways across Staten Island, and traffic can change the best route a lot.

Why can't your husband bring the car seat? Your car or a rental? Can't he rent a carseat with the car?

Op here. I left out that dh will have a car! I need to bring the car seat but he could pick us up at the airport.

This. Taking the train is better than driving during the day, but taking a van or bus shuttle and letting the driver deal with the traffic is better than dealing with the train.

Can you fly into Newark instead? Amtrak from Newark to midtown is really easy -- it's a straight shot, 20 minutes, and there are elevators.

If you've already booked the ticket, I'd get a cab from JFK and skip the carseat.

Np You mean you would just hold your child in a taxi? No way I would do that! I would find a taxi or uber with a car seat. I've been in too many taxi rides where the drivers are not good.

You can’t get into LaGuardia and then take Uber in? Never had a problem getting one with car seat at LaGuardia .

Agree- Newark is easiest but with a baby and any stuff at all you don’t want to use the “train.” 2nd world infrastructure
