At that age we had a neuropsych evaluation done by our child's school and it was fine -- however we did a lot of homework and insisted that all testing be done with instrument made for non-verbal students.
Even if your child is verbal now, they likely use shorter sentences and may be slower to form answers due to the apraxia and associated language issues.
I'm curious about which school did this. In FCPS, they are only able to do psycho-educational testing. FCPS doesn't have sufficient depth in their assessments to do the neuro-psych testing.

He is a complex case (and I've got an older DS with run-of-the-mill ADHD/anxiety who outgrew his MERLD diagnosis by 5th grade). When I needed an IEE for a neuropsych, I used Dr. Katia Fredriksen at Stixrud and got an excellent report from her. I thought she and the other Stixrud staff (who administer some of the assessments) did a great job in teasing out and separating how his disorders were impacting him. Even my hard to please education consultant was impressed - and went up with us for the debrief.
