I developed cellulite from taking a certain BC pill—it was so awful!! I had gained about 10 pounds and my doctor gave me Phentermine for a month because I’d been trying and trying to take the pill weight off and nothing worked. I know this board has a love/hate opinion of Phentermine but it really helped with the cellulite—and I lost about 8.5 pounds (and kept 6 of it off for almost a year now). I’m sure the actual weight loss helped but it wasn’t that much weight and it made a world of difference. I am also back to running regularly (6 days a week) and have stayed the same. So I think anything that tones the legs will help—but not just mailing it in at the gym every day. Whether it’s serious squats or serious running, the effort has got to be great.

So I guess the real "cure" would be if there was a treatment or nutritional change that could make those fibrous bands more elastic - like some heart medications do for the arteries.

Any cardiologists out there willing to moonlight? Please?

There is a treatment that cuts through the bands so the cellulite disappears.

I have always been thin with cellulite. Weirdly enough, when I'm pregnant and gain weight, it all disappears. I think the extra fat helps it all smooth away (most of the weight it obviously in my pregnant stomach, but some does go to my legs and butt).

Seems like anything that could make your tissue swell enough to temporarily disguise cellulite would also leave visible marks on your skin, no?

From how stuff works article "Does using a body brush daily help with cellulite?":
What dry brushing may do is promote the tissue to swell, which could hide the uneven dimpling effect of cellulite. While the underlying cause of cellulite remains unaffected, the temporary swelling may help the brusher achieve the appearance of smooth skin -- at least for a short time, anyway.

Worth a try before the beach or that Instagram photo shoot.

Yeh, I think it's genes. My mom has always been slightly overweight but very active/athletic and has not one spot of cellulite (ever...and now she is 76). And yep...same with me...always about 10 lbs overweight...but very athletic. No cellulite ever.

Late twenties, 4'11, 118 lbs. I've been strength-training twice a week for more than three years with different trainers and realized that while I am pleased with my overall physique, I still have horrible cellulite on the back of my thighs. The women in my family are overweight with cellulite so I'm wondering if I'm doomed to never get rid of it? I am naturally pear-shaped although I now have a proportionate hourglass shape thanks to pull-up training.
