Thanks. We’re familiar with KOA but didn’t think of them for hitting lessons. Do you know if he will work with a player at the field or just inside the facility?

DS’s private lessons with AJ have been at the facility, but his lessons with Adam (no longer there) were on the field so I don’t know they have a hard and fast rule. If you could catch a lesson before or after a game you might have a shot at meeting him on a field.

You should know going in that Scott is intense. Having said that, he’s earnest and has a heart of gold. I’ve seen him work really hard with the worst kid on his rec team, and always find something on which the kid could build his confidence. He doesn’t just focus on travel-level kids. He wants to share his love for the game no matter the kid’s level.

I know you focused on the 270 corridor. Having said that, it’s worth it to contact Scott. He may be willing to run across the river to Bethesda. At least see which locations he serves. Otherwise he may offer recommendations, in keeping with wanting the best for the kid.

Best of luck!

Thanks for the suggestion.

Baseball Rebellion out of NC does online lessons. A friend of DS's has used them for over a year. The set up takes the right kind of kid--presumably a motivated, self-starter (which doesn't describe my DS)--but in terms of timing and convenience (and cost), it seems to work well for his friend.

He looks great but I think that’s too far for us on a weekday evening. It looks like they run out of Georgetown Day lower school. We are in Rockville.

DS 13 wants to work with a hitting coach. I’m looking for recommendations for a private coach in the Rockville/Gaithersburg/Bethesda area. We’ve used baseball zone but I’m looking for additional options. I’d especially appreciate specific names rather than just facilities.

I’m also wondering what the going rate is. Baseball zone charges $120 hr. I know for soccer we pay $75/hr for privates so I have sticker shock. Is baseball just that much more expensive?
