Those sound like compliments to me.

I think it's better than fake compliments with an agenda. A few friends of mine apparently think I should work harder on my appearance (more makeup, contacts vs. glasses, spending more time on my hair) so they go overboard with the praise whenever I do a little more in that area. (a friend told me this was happening.) It's kind of annoying. Sometimes I just don't have the time to spare!

Are you male or female? I was very attractive and complimented on my looks constantly from birth through my 20s. Once I hit my 30s....nothing. I'm not necessarily *ugly* now, but in our culture, women are usually only found attractive if they are under 30.

I honestly NEVER get compliments on my looks. My hair, my outfit, anything. I also know Im not that bad looking. Im a solid average. Im also really friendly and compliment others often. I have no idea. I stopped trying to figure it out honestly!

I have been married 25 years and my husband rarely gives me a compliment but I know I look good. I get compliments from co-workers and friends but don't really care if they give them or not because I know I look good. OP, if you know you look good, why do you care what others think? You shouldn't.

If it's somewhere like work, people are less likely to comment effusively or specifically on your looks; harassment training and all that.

Complement yourself. You put in extra effort because you like the way it makes you feel. Own your beauty, inside and out!
