+1 The show is doing a great job of revealing the reality of teen motherhood. A big improvement over when kids see a fellow student with a baby and all they see is cute baby!
16 and Pregnant did that. Teen Mom on the other hand, no. Look at the shit show nearly all the TMs have turned into. Not only the typical consequences of teen pregnancy (more children soon after, no lasting long term relationships, no high school/college graduation) but they make 6 figure incomes and are famous. Would-be teen moms who watch the show are seeing that you can have a baby as a teen and become rich without continuing education or even juggling work and motherhood. Yes, there are exceptions, but those are also the women with the most stable families to begin with (Chelsea and Maci come to mind). MTV likes to pretend that they have something to do with lower pregnancy rates, but an overall movement of more complete sex education in schools is likely the reason, as areas with abstinence only education have higher teen pregnancy rates.
