It pissed me off having having to pay $60 for kids and $60 for chaperone on a school bus with very loud kids and a non responsive teacher to a museum.

They learn about medieval stuff in history in fifth grade. It is like the colonial stuff in fourth.

Our elementary stages a big medieval day in the spring of 5th grade. It is actually bigger than the colonial day in 4th.

A field trip to medieval times would not bother me as long as try he PTA subsidized those who need help.

Medieval times to learn about medieval history is laughable. That said, it would not bother me because it is fun for kids and yes, they should subsidize so nobody is left out.

Usually it was $7 to offset the cost of the bus to DC. There are an incredible number of excellent free educational programs. After ES, it is always around $100 for the band/orchestra outing to Busch Gardens or Hershey Park to play. That’s technically voluntary though. (But good luck telling your kid that).

+1 to this entire post. I think our kids may have attended the same schools.

The 5th grade field trip to Medieval Times accompanied the class' trebuchet building and their medieval faire, where the kids had to make things to sell. How many things can one make with Perler beads?

$69 for a Philadelphia field trip at Churchill. Seems reasonable to us.

$70 was the most we paid. The PTA covers the kids who can't afford it. I thought $55 was extreme for a 3rd grade event. I got used to it and it continued through the years.

$70 is for this year's spring 6th grade trip.

IMO, anything more than $45 is just too much for a field trip. We can afford it, but I just don't think public schools need to be doing field trips on chartered buses and the like. I feel like it is overboard.

Our school also did Medieval Times in 5th grade. The kids loved it.

Haycock had least one 65+ field trip each year from third on up.

I want to say it was around $80 for the Williamsburg and Jamestown all day trip.

My DW and I both teach for FCPS. Medieval Times is a trip I've never heard of schools doing. That's an interesting one.

Most field trips cost between $5 - $15 IME.

At our ES, the PTA has a fund to subsidize those that can not afford the trips. I can think of three big / expensive trips: Jamestown, Midieval times, and a camp Highroads.

The school is in a well off area and the PTA has money.

I believe our PTA covers the costs from money raised at the auctions and donations. And we are a very diverse school.

Just curious. What is the maximum you had to pay for a ES field trip. Please mention grade and destination
