Your wife is likely a bigot too even if she voted for Obama. You are probably a bigot as well seeing as you this is how you define bigotry and got all the way to marriage without being bothered by their bigotry. So in your case you deal with it by saying " Pass the bread it's delicious!"

Minimize contact (all the way down to zero if your spouse is on board) and keep them away from your kids. I would cut my own parents out of my life without a second thought if they behaved like that. I don't need people like that in my life - they add no value.

That's fine but at what point does "cranky Fox News watcher" turn into "legitimate person to keep away from?" I'm asking this of all the "settle down you're the real bigot" folks.
A lot depends on how thin skinned they are. My dad is conservative and can take some rubbing. My ILs not so much.
