Realized I don't really like resorts

‘Kids, you are staying in your bed room all spring break. If we happen to go or do anything else, consider it a bonus’

Lol, I love this.

Wait? Did I post this? Same experience, also Florida. I think the hot sunny weather, sand and tight space (shared single hotel room) aggravated everyone.

Same. Wish we could leave them with grandparents but we can’t.

Yeah it was really windy, but found the beach lovely. We were on gulf though, I assume you were on Atlantic?

Seriously. Thinking need to invest in suite if we can find it, would like two hotel rooms but kids too young to be on their own like that.

Worst for us was when we made plans but then had to change for some reason (someone sick, activity sold out, weather). Ugh. Dashed expectations make my kids into ogres. I want now to not tell them everything — not even where we are going or doing before or during vacation

Had an awesome time hiking in Northern California— redwoods area. But now stuck for at least an extra day with no line of sight for getting home so awesome might get revised pretty quickly. Trying to maintain my zen!

In-laws took both teens and their two cousins on a Disney cruise. Both teens still enjoy Disney cruises better than normal cruises, but both hate Disney World.

DH and I stayed the week in FL awaiting their return. It was awesome.

Pac northwest, visited family, saw a few sites. Kids fought a lot after the first two days. Consequences made moods tons worse with one of them; probably not going to travel again with that one for two years or so.

I traveled with my husband & 3 kids (ages 3, 6, and 8) from NOVA. Given the late snow, we made a last minute decision to go to Camelback in the Poconos for 2 days (Sun - Tues). We skied one day and went to the waterpark one day. Everyone in the group really liked Camelback so this was a good last minute addition.
Tues - Sat we rented an Airbnb in Hoboken. En route from the Poconos to Hoboken we visited a niece and nephew at college.
DH and I lived in Hoboken before kids and I decided to do Airbnb for the first time to give us more space / stay cheaper than Manhattan. Hoboken was good because there are a lot of playgrounds we visited.
One day I took the 8 year old to see Aladdin and DH took the younger two to the liberty science center - everyone enjoyed what they did that day.
One day we went to the Central Park zoo and ate at serendipity. Everyone liked what we did that day.
Friday night we had a Passover Seder in NYC and to illustrate some not relaxing moments of the vacation, DH took the 8 year old into NYC early while I stayed back to have the younger two nap so they could make it through the Seder. I ended up taking the NYC subway at rush hour with a 6 year old and a 3 year old bc traffic was so bad, it would have taken longer to take a cab.
I got a bad cold. Despite getting the Airbnb for more room - I didn’t sleep well - neighbors and the street were loud.

In hindsight I think I wish we went somewhere warm I need a vacation from this vacation

Florida with 2 teens & spouse. Stayed at my parents who have a lovely home. Plenty of stuff space for everyone to relax and not feel on top of each other. We had a great time at the pool and beach.

As usual, I probably gained 5 lbs. That and going home are the worst parts.

It’s a little early but I’m starting this thread anyway.
Where did you go? What did you do? Who was in your travel group? Did you have a good time?

I’ll post my response in the comments.
