I was really open minded and got shut out from multiple low performing DCPS schools including ones that had no waitlist last year.

This was us last year and we did Langley as a post-lottery add. It has been fine. Consider it if you live nearby!

We got matched to Friendship Armstrong (admittedly our safety), and I think historically they don’t have much of a waitlist (and taken everyone from it). I’m honestly not sure why more people don’t grab it for ECE. Their Reggio program looks like an amazing, creative, and thoughtfully-designed experience. anway, if people are looking for post-lottery adds, you might want to consider Armstrong. They have an open house April 11.

Not sure. We're deciding among (1) a low-performing public school; (2) a private school we can't really afford; or (3) keeping him at home another year (even though he clearly needs more social contact with kids his age).
I strongly dislike all of those options, but none of them are utterly horrible. And at least we have options (2) and (3), which makes us more fortunate than a lot of people.
