OP is the UChicago hater reduced to posting fiction.

Not sure what would be strange about that. Different profiles.

It's called "shotgunning". Top kids apply to the entire top 15.

I should have included Duke as well in my original post. Rejected from every Ivy and Duke, admitted to Chicago. Several kids! So bizarre.

Back in the day, I was rejected from the Ivies I applied to, but not Chicago. Now I'm making a ton of money. Great experience, great education, no regrets!

Why the surprise?

You do know what the Forbes emphasizes? Salaries? Alumni in business? That's not the place UChicago is. It's brainy. Big PhD feeder. Academia doesn't pay as well as Wall Street. But the students who go aren't any less accomplished. Just because the Ivies and others are filled with money-grubbing status obsessed kids doesn't mean that they're a better school. US News has it right for identifying the best undergrad experience (faculty resources, class sizes, retention rate, etc)

Happens every year at our top private. It's unreal, but UChicago is a safety for those applying to ivys.

But why is that surprising? It's a matter of how many apply to the Ivys vs. U of Chicago. I would guess it's 4 to 1. So even if it's the same caliber applicant, the Ivys have more in their pool to reject.
