Same. It's a drawer, typically wooden. What do you think is "living" in there? Wipe it out with an antibacterial wipe if you must. I'd be more worried about sitting on the bedspread or using the tv remote.


+1. Of all the nasty things you will encounter in a hotel, the dresser is the least of your concern. This comes from a 100+ nights a year in a hotel business traveler.

What kind of gross places are you staying in? I unpack all the time and I’ve never had this issue. The drawers are wooden. What exactly do you think is hiding in there that you can’t see?

Totally depends how long we are staying. Generally unpack if more than two nights.

My kids and I unpack for a week trip, not for a few days. My DH usually unpacks so his clothes stay tidy. I do hang things up the closet.

I don't take bed bugs into consideration.

But, this is my big trick: eBags ... this way you just take them out of your luggage, and put the whole thing in the drawer. Your clothes never touch the drawer. Every member of our family has a different color. It has changed our vacations by tenfold!

Nope. We live out of suitcases/backpacks. We only unpack the toiletries.

I unpack, and do it within the first few hours we are there. It is so much nicer/easier. I understand the ick factor, and it hasn't bothered me much (and I'm usually bothered by this - never use the top comforter, wear socks in hotel room, etc).

But, this is my big trick: eBags ... this way you just take them out of your luggage, and put the whole thing in the drawer. Your clothes never touch the drawer. Every member of our family has a different color. It has changed our vacations by tenfold!

I unpack if it's more than a couple of days. Then I can stash the luggage in the closet and get it out of the way. Plus it's easier to see everything that way.

I used to not unlock and neither do my parents. My dh hnocks and it’s so much easier and less cluttered and I don’t have to root through a suitcase everyday. I wipe down the drawers.

So we are family of four with all the gear and clothing that entails and arrive at two queen hotel room by the beach. Once we roll in suitcases and backpacks the room is PACKED. We use luggage rack for one suitcase, the other goes on the desk with backpacks, but makes the space so crowded.

Do folks unpack their suitcase and bags into the drawers and desks? Seems kind of ick, wish they just had a row of fancy luggage racks and hooks for bags.
