Pretty much 90% of everything in this entire forum, and 60% of everything on CC.

1. the debt you'll rack up to get the degree from the elite college/university will be worth it in the end when you get that high-paying job

2. not going to a "known" school means you'll never make it in life and will always just have a job, not a career

GC: Really, he'll love it.
Son: If you make me go there, I will be forced to hate you and cut you out of my life
Me: He's pretty clear that he is not interested
GC: He should really go to Rutgers. He won't get into a better school.

Yeah, Stanford called. He went. He thrived. He graduated. He still hates New Jersey.

That if you can get into a given school, the money will work out.

That the "elite" institution will offer enough financial aid to cover "need".

Colleges will overlook some grades, but look for an upward trend. Sorry, it's called GPA, Not GPA for Freshman year, Sophomore year, Junior year et .

If you feel like you've made a mistake huge your first weekend at college, it's ok to come back home. Noooooo!

Going to an elite college is important/will significantly alter the course of your life or career

Elite colleges dont really require subject tests.

Elite colleges love well-rounded individuals.

1. that you have to go to an ivy or your life will be wasted.

2. that you have to do a million extra curriculars to make your application competitive.
