We had a great trip to southern Spain with our elementary-school aged kids. Seville and Granada are both great (make sure you reserve the Alhambra well in advance), and you can probably add in a stop at the beach too. Spain was very kid-friendly.

If you're into nature. Noronha. Beautiful, great diving, snorkeling and watersports. Very calm since they only allow 400 people in the area at a time.

I don't know if it is a UNESCO cite, but my 7 year old loved Seville (Alcazar and the Giralda). We did a couple of days there and spent the rest of the time in Portugal.

I know people are iffy about Mexico right now but I just had a great trip to Tulum. The Coba ruins were great and we did an amazing float in Sian Ka'an, which is a UNESCO site.

OP here. I would LOVE to do this. We wanted to go to Marrakesh for our honeymoon, but we decided it was too far (we were living on West Coast at the time). What age would you recommend at youngest? Maybe 9/10?

Many of those listed are challenging. I would do Scotland and Ireland

Our kid is now in early elementary, and travel is getting a lot easier--we'd like to explore a different interesting world destination every year or two.
