OP, if you don't have art or design training, do the world a favor and don't become a designer until you do. People think they can do it, and that's why the market here is flooded with shitty designers who are freelancing through agencies because they're not good enough to actually have a good career doing it. Seriously, if design and art haven't been lifelong passions for you, don't become a designer. don't.

Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Visio
Microsoft Power BI

You need to become an expert at these. Network with friends in consulting. The above skills will get you started and ahead of the curve at most of those places. Most new grads such at Excel, Visio and anything useful.

I am good at soft skills: marketing, communications strategy etc. but I haven't taken a single statistics or economics class.

In order to be more competitive in the job market, what hard skill should I look into acquiring?
