Apparently it's the latter. Exaggerate much, OP?

I would wait until Wednesday and send out a reminder. I think the Saturday or Sunday of that weekend is a bad time as many, at least in our area, people will still be away. The Monday before school begins might be okay but you do realize it's Easter weekend and many people have religious and family obligations right?

Is it a drop off party? In 1st grade we stopped going to all but best friends parties that aren't drop off. The last thing i want to do with my weekend is stand around and listen to other parents complain about school politics (or regular politics)

OP here. He's only in 1st grade and the standard here is to still invite the whole class. So far every kid in his class and included everyone. We did the same, but so far only a few of the 20 kids we invited are able to make it. The reminder RSVP hasn't gone out yet. I guess I should relax, but the social schedules of these kids stress me out.

OP, my son received an evite from one of his good friends for a birthday party on April 7. We have been waiting to RSVP until we get our sports schedules.

There you go. People need a quiet weekend for once. Bad timing.

In this case, no news is just no news until like the day before the party. I wouldn't freak out yet, and to be honest at his age just a couple of friends (up to 5) is the ideal size for a birthday party. They'll have the most fun.

Mine is having a party this weekend, I've heard from 3/12 school friends. But she also has 4 similar aged cousins (and a dozen much older) so she'll be totally fine with 6-8 kids total.

OP, many don't RSVP until right before (I've done this myself sometimes)--I wouldn't sweat it. Just send out a reminder a week and then a couple days before.

There is a difference between "no one" and "only a few kids who have RSVP'd." Did you invite the whole class?

Reach out to his closest friends' parents and make sure they at least are coming. Then do damage control. "You're getting to the age where parties are smaller with just your closest friends." "This is a busy time of year, and many families are out of town." Just get him ready for low turnout so it's not a surprise.

If even the closest friends can't make it, consider rescheduling around *their* schedules.

Well which is it? Nobody is coming or a few kids are coming?

Why do you think your son is well-liked? Is HE invited to birthday parties where it's not "invite the whole class"?

OP give us details.

How many "no" RSVPs do you have? How many kids have not yet RSVP'd? How much longer till the party? Assuming you sent an electronic invitation, has a reminder gone out yet?

Is it planned one of the spring break weekend? Did you send an evite? It is likely in everyone's trash folder

Yikes! My son is a well-liked, sweet first grader. This birthday party is coming up and so far only a few kids have RSVP'd. This is stressing me out! It seems to be a case of bad timing, but I know he'll be heartbroken if only a few kids show up.
