Seattle is my least favorite of the three.

Focus on the beauties of nature that are true marvels.

San Francisco can easily be covered in a day or two if you want to highlights. Just be sure to reserve your Alcatraz tickets in advance.

Also, there is a park on tye other side of tye water that gives an amazing view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is on the right, just after you pass over th3 bridge, down in the rocks. It was som sort of old Army post and I think it is open to the public.

If you go to SF, make sure to visit Fort Point, which is under the Golden Gate Bridge. Not many people know about it and you can easily spend at least an hour there.

With a 6th grader, I would only do one day in San Francisco.

I would fly into San Fran, stay one night.

Rent a car, drive up to Humboldt and stay in a cabin along The Avenue of the Giants. Stay 2 days.

Drive back down the coast, stop in Monterrey. Stay overnight.

Get up early and drive down the PC hwy as much as you can. If you can make it to Hearst castle, do that. Stop along the way in Big Sur and any of the stops along the way

Drive down to Santa Barbara, stay overnight and fly out from there.

What is your favorite west coast city to visit?

I also recommend San Francisco. If you go, try to go on a tour of Alcatraz. It sells out quickly but, my brother says it is amazing!

The Alcatraz tour is awesome! Definitely get your tickets as soon as you know the dates you'll be in SF. They sell out weeks in advance, especially in the summer. Also, walk over the Golden Gate Bridge and take the ferry over to Sausalito for a few hours. It is a charming town with a great ice cream place and the views from the ferry are beautiful.

If SF, I’d also add in Marine Mammal Center in Marin and a nearby beach and/or Pt. Reyes, depending on time.

Go to San Francisco.

—Visit Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel
—Visit San Francisco: Exploratorium, Giants baseball game
—Visit Muir Woods
—Drive up coast: Bodega Bay, Jenner, farther north to Mendocino if you want

Is Big Sur open yet? I know there were damaging mudslides. If it is accessible now, that’s first on the list.
We’ve taken our tween/teen kids there and they’ve loved it.
