CC is a great option for students who are organized and disciplined enough to work towards getting GEs and introductory classes in their chosen discipline under their belt. I strongly suggest your child meet with an academic adviser ASAP and put together a two year plan.
Also do some research on articulation agreements from your CC to local colleges. Are there guaranteed admission agreements? Usually you just need a B average and the equivalent of an associates degree. Some colleges like UMD have LEPs. (Limited enrollment programs) and for these specific programs (such as engineering and business) admissions is not guaranteed
