OP I am about the same size as you with no defined waist just a straight banana type shape. My hips are just a few inches wider than my waist. But I learned to emphasize my best parts, and cover things I do not like. Honestly you cannot drastically change your shape without surgery, and I like myself well enough where I would not subject myself to any medical procedures. The ideal body shape is a myth we are all different. Don't obsess over your measurements. I am sure you loook better than you think, we are the worst critics of ourselves.

OP, you are already very small. Do you want to have ribs removed? Do you think that's worth it? I agree with others - seeing a professional that deals with body images would be more beneficial.

Maybe do some strength training with weights to build up your arms and legs a bit more, if you want a more "proportionate" look - but this may cause you to gain a little weight (muscle, not fat).

At the end of the day, a stupid number of a scale is meaningless. Stop chasing a number. Feeling healthy and strong is a far better goal.

I get it OP. I’m petite and thin everywhere except my stomach looks perpetually pregnant. The only way I get it less rounded is to loose too much weight. Then, I have a normal looking stomach but a sickly looking skinny rest of my body.

I’ve had to just learn to dress for my body type, which unfortunately means loose tops that can sometimes overwhelm my petite frame.

Maybe you and OP can see the same mental health professional.

+1. And stop saying “petite”! Small or short are perfectly fine, unpretentious words.

+1000 The more I read, the more body image issues jumped out. In all seriousness OP, please step away from the pursuit. It is unhealthy. Seek help with a mental health professional. Good luck to you.

At 5’5” and at your “ideal” weight of 110/108, you are clinically underweight. When you were 103, you were drastically underweight.

Please see a therapist.

Anonymous wrote:So obviously you start by losing weight. But for me it is not enough, in order to have a somewhat smaller belly I need to drop too much weight, I end up looking too skinny, and that's just to reduce belly from profile (flat stomach), I still have very little waist definition... is there anything you think I can do?

Currently I am 5'5, 115 pound with a 27 inches waist and narrow hips. My ideal weight is 108/110 so I am working on losing 5-6pounds. I have been all the way down to 103 six years ago pre-kid but my face looks gaunt. My legs and arms are skinny, my belly is ugly, chubby, fat and straight. Apple shape.

My plan is to get to a 25-26 inches waist in the coming 2 months:
- lose 5 pounds
- go low carb to be less bloated
- do at least 20 Minutes a day of Pilates, with a focus on side planks, criss-cross and pelvic floor exercise
- try a waist trainer...

What do you think? Useless ? Just embrass my apple shape? Did you try and succeed? I want to give it one last big effort before I give up (36 year old on her way to an early mid life crisis ..)

Adding that I have PCOS. Currently on a hormonal IUD and considering switching to a copper one to get rid of all hormones because of headaches. Every time I change my contraception my body shape slitghly changes. I feel like after years of pills I ended up having more cellulite and a smaller waist (right now zero cellulite, I don't keep weight on my thighs/butt). Wondering if going zero hormone wouldn't be worse and make me even more apple shape...
