Depends. If you’re flying international business and you get those toiletry kits with toothbrush, toothpaste, chapstick stuff, socks, pen, comb.

Noise cancelling headphones. Accomplishes two things- you can watch videos/listen to music with the volume lower, and the lower volume from the headphones and engines really helps cut down on fatigue on a long flight. Some good options here, including one that is $100.

Gum (differentt types depending on my mood). Helps with turbulence and take off/landing too.

I love a good tabloid too. It's my indulgence.

I usually take snacks/food with me. It helps pass the time and I don't feel cornered into eating junky airport food while sitting around for hours on a plane. Plus, given the time changes and limited meal portions/options I don't feel so fat and bloated starting off the trip.

I always thought thought those collar sleeping pillows were silly, but they are actually quite awesome for a super long flight like yours.

Compression socks. I still walk and stand up on the super long flights, but with varicose veins compression socks are helpful. YMMV

I find my nose and lips get really dry on long flights. There is a nasal spray by NeilMed (Nasogel drip free) that I really like as well as chapstick & lotion.

Earplugs. And I've found the person in front of me always reclines so much that a laptop is useless. I just watch the in-seat movies.

This is what I bring on long flights: blanket and pillow, compression socks, headphones, slippers, micellar water and cotton pads, ipad loaded with ebooks/audio books/movies/tv shows/magazines, a cardigan, lip balm, gum, antibacterial wipes to wipe surfaces on the plane and my hands before and after eating, hand cream.

I've found that the best way for me not to arrive looking like a greaseball is to wash my hair the morning of the flight and put it up as soon as I get on the plane. Also I wear no makeup other than a bit of eyeliner. I clean my face after dinner with the micellar water and again before we land.

Hi! I will be taking two 13+ hour flights on Friday. I am looking for any recommendations of essential things to bring on the plane with me to make it bearable. I am traveling with a colleague so would prefer to remain rather intact and feel less like a greaseball when I reach my final destination.

So far, I am thinking the following warrant a spot in my carry on
- Dry Shampoo
- Make-up wipes
- Second set of clothes (t-shirt/jeans)
- e-books and work laptop

Any other recommendations?
