The summer before her HS freshman year, I asked my daughter if she wanted to go meet with a make-up consultant and buy some make-up. She said yes, so I took her to the Clinique counter where she had a brief consult (asked for the 'natural' look) and bought her the basics (eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, blush, concealer, some sheer lip stick). She's almost 16 now and rarely wears make-up. If going out with friends or to a dance, she will put some on; day to day for school, she doesn't. She's a sporty kid, if that matters. When she wears make-up, she looks older and more put-together, but I really let her decide when/if to wear it and so far, she's shown little interest. She dresses casually (usually jeans or leggings to school) and usually wears her hair up in a bun or ponytail, but she cares about her appearance and I think looks nice when she leaves the house. She just looks younger and less sophisticated than some of the girls I see who have make-up on. That's def not a problem in my mind.
