I spoke to my friends about it a year ago, but one CogAT results came back, no one wanted to talk about it.

I try not to go crazy over this but suspense is killing me. I would feel better or can forget about it or move on if I know GBRS at a minimum.

PP here. Friends didn't refer + not in pool and there is the opinion that our neighborhood center school is a hot mess so there is a lot of negative feedback there which just adds to my anxiety. Also, I don't want to give the impression that I think my kid is so much smarter than the other kids.

Same boat here. Now if someone asks you when your DC makes it to AAP, would you downplay AAP and pretend that it's not a big deal? I don't want to lose friends/neighbors over this.

I will definitely downplay it. If DS makes it will be by the skin of his teeth so that doesn't really put him above the rest. I believe there are a couple of kids in the neighborhood worthy of AAP honestly. I also really like our base school so I don't want to make it sound like our school isn't worthy.

Yes. Downplay it. Truth be told, it isn't a big deal. It certainly doesn't make your DC any better than their kids. It's not a life long achievement. You're just placing your DC in the place you think makes the most sense for him/her. End of story.

I know. I'm clearly obsessed. And the boards aren't really helping, but at least it's anonymous, so you don't have those touchy friend dynamics.

What it all comes down to, though, is that it's a case-by-case decision. You can get some ideas from these boards, but you only know when you know.

Solution is simple. Do not visit this forum . Delete bookmark link to this forum and you will find AAP admission process relaxing!

At least you know GBRS. Our school won't even release that information until April.

In the grand scheme of life, this decision is a small one and kids get six years to get into the program if they want and can handle it. After 2nd grade with my eldest, I never heard about AAP more than once a year by a parent except on this board.

I felt the same way. And I will likely go through the process again with younger kids - will I be less consumed? Idk!!!!

I don't have any good advice - hang in there.

I can't believe it's been almost 2 whole months since the parent referral deadline.

I had to parent refer, even though the child was in pool. I had been collecting information for that for a few months.

I got the GBRS, and I think its an excellent one, but nevertheless, I keep reading all the posts, unconsciously thinking this forum may be some crystal ball, and will help me figure out the answer.

Two months have gone by, and there is one more to go. The two months have gone by kind of fast, because of all other commitments in my life, coupled with a lot of juicy discussions on this board, but boy, how I wish I had the answer already.
