We were at a rec center and did soccer theme. I had tablecloths that looked like grass fields and green plates, etc. We brougt on a collapsible goal and hung his name from top and had soft balls kids could kick into goal. I truly don't think anyone noticed we had not hung any decorations....

I love the look of balloons, but be careful because a lot of the elementary school kids seem to have learned in school how bad they are for the environment. I saw an adult throwing a party chastised by a group of seven year olds.

Science fair project trip-folds (know what I mean?) set up in corners with the theme. Ours was a 5th Birthday astronaut party, so we had one with planets (cut and pasted on) and one with holes cut out to take pictures behind.

It is a kids birthday party - if it is young kids go big with lots of balloons / balls and have these double as a party favor.

Are you allowed to do bubbles? With a bubble machine?

Tie balloons on the back of all the chairs. Then send them home with the kids as party favors. Get them from the Dollar Store. Win-win.

What is the theme of the party? We here at DCUM might be able to help you better knowing what you're aiming for.

Oriental Trading has some great free-standing decorations (like card board palm trees, for example).

Yep we'll have to since it also includes that we are not allowed to have balloons float to the ceiling.

+1 we did this at a gym, but not the confetti (what a mess!). It was fine and very festive.

Yeah, we just taped things anyway, and then took the tape off at the end.

We used some special tape that doesn't peel paint; fun tak.

We are renting a room at a community center and realized we can't hang up anything on the walls:
No decorations or other items may be tacked, taped, nailed, or affixed in any way to the walls or any other surface of the building inside or out.

So now I'm wondering how exactly we are going to decorate? Thoughts/ideas/suggestions?
