The reason I think it might be a pro is that it suggests the overall intelligence could be higher than standardized tests and classroom participation are showing. I didn't mention it because I didn't want my DC to be treated differently. Also, DC is on ADHD meds, which helps some of the focus issues we dealt with before being diagnosed, so maybe it was a non issue this time. However, I may mention it if I have to appeal.

I wanted to know the GBRS
Some of the work samples were interesting to see - I hadn’t seen them before

I like to keep copies of things for my own records.
If the school has feedback on my kid and I’m entitled to it, I would like to see it.

Another reason is that there will be a big rush to get files after the initial rejections come out. Might be better to do it now before the AART is inundated with requests.

I meant "off their noses." Ugh.

I requested to receive a copy because we will likely have to appeal so I wanted to see the GBRS as well as the strength of the overall packet before scheduling a WISC. In DC's case scores were not in pool and my guess is a first round rejection. I need to schedule the WISC now if GBRS is good I think the appeal is worth it. If GBRS is low then I know not to waste my efforts and focus on Level III placement.

You cannot make any changes at this point since packets have been submitted already.

Our AART said we could have a copy in early March. It's already been submitted for good, so now is a good time for me to see it.

The school can't change the file. I requested it so I know what the GBRS is and also what work samples the school provided. I want to see how strong the file is. This helps in two ways: (1) it helps me to decide whether it really makes sense to continue to advocate for the AAP program (I do take into account what the teachers/AART think of my child. If they really don't think DC belongs there, maybe they're right.); and (2) it helps me to decide whether I should arrange for other tests in the event an appeal is necessary.

I asked for kid's a couple years ago because his teacher was terrible and I was curious what she would say about him.
