Recess is really unsupervised? How do they keep it from turning into Lord of the flies?

I wouldn’t be mad at them. And I wouldn’t think they were going to Hell. I hope and pray that the mercy of God is bigger than anything that we can imagine.

Describes us, wasn't a problem at the Heights. DS did well.

Moderate catholic=Catholic, goes to Mass, wants their kid at a Catholic school, socializes with others who are and are not Catholic, doesn't believe everyone is going to Hell for having difference of opinion.

I don’t know anyone who wants to talk religion 24/7! I certainly don’t.

People trying their best and sometimes missing mass is ... pretty normal. People saying “I’m Catholic but disagree with Church teaching on A, B, C, D. E, F, G...” ... yeah, that kind of gets my hackles up.

Accepted to third grade here.

I'm not worried about the emphasis on becoming a man. It seems to me from my interactions with the school and from friends who have boys there that they're not encouraging the boys to grow up too fast. In fact, I think that de-emphasizing technology in the younger grades and utilizing fairy tales, traditional hero stories (knights, Greek myths, etc.) is extremely age-appropriate, as is the emphasis on nature and outdoor play.

As for "moderate Catholics," I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. We consider ourselves to be neither liberal Catholics nor conservative Catholics, but simply faithful to the teachings of the Church. That means that in modern U.S. politics we are conservative on certain issues and liberal on others. But we do not oppose Church teaching anywhere that She has a clear teaching. So perhaps you wouldn't consider us "moderate" if by "moderate" you mean "willing to disregard Church teaching where it's unpopular."

I can't speak for others at the school, of course.

Also--do you think it's hard to find moderate Catholics there? Or is it hard core Catholics only?

Accepted to third grade. Do you think Heights makes boys grow up too soon with their emphasis of boys being men and strict discipline and grooming policies? Or do boys get to be little boys for as long as possible?
