Yes. This trip is sounding overwhelming to me, I’d be sad about not really getting a feel for the destinations.

Right now, stick to Italy, Berlin, and London. And then do day trips. From Berlin, you could even do Prague. From London, the person who said that you should see the country is right, but I’d do Oxford or Cambridge or Bath.

I would pick 3 cities and take side trips, if needed.

Art and churches and great food are the obvious choices in Rome and Florence. But if those aren't your cup of tea, there are other things to do. And the Tuscan hill towns are stunning, should you choose to day trip to one of those.

My dad is a WWII history nut. When we went to Berlin he want to see anything and everything associated with it. To Potsdam we went. Day trip to Dresden. I'm more of a postwar junkie with a fixation on the Wall so we hunted down the few sections that remain standing and went to the old location of the Bornholmer Strasse checkpoint where people first crossed on Nov. 9 1989 (now its an Aldi parking lot...ah, capitalism).

Also perhaps fly from Berlin to Munich, spend a day there (no more) and then take the train to Florence. it's a lovely train ride and you'll enjoy going through the Alps. Alternatively, you can drive but it will take longer. If you choose to do that, stop by Salzburg, Herrenchiemsee, Berchtesgaden. Google the images, you'll see why I suggest them.

Go to the TripAdvisor Forums and ask the same questions. People on these forums can't seem to focus on the actual question asked and will give you nonsensical advice you didn't ask--like going to the Cotswolds when you asked about specific cities.

I can help with Berlin, I'm from there. But my best advice is to ask again on Trip Advisor forums. Berlin is a fantastic city, and I'd recommend watching Berlin Babylon on Netflix before you go. Great show, and will get you in the mood. Berlin never sleeps (stiil) and there is much to do and see, both outdoors and historical.

The Cotswolds are 2 hours away. You can hit Stratford upon Avon, Oxford, Warwick during a day trip from London (lots of day trips by bus).

Go visit Blenheim Palace while you're at it.

No. The Cotswolds are like an 8 hour drive from London, about as long on the train and there are far more places to visit which don't require that time commitment with travel.

Rye in Kent - on the coast, where they filmed French Lieutenant's Woman. Beautiful.
Windsor - to the West but only by about 45 mins train ride. You can visit and walk the grounds of the castle

Or you can go to Hamburg which isn't far from Berlin and is a beautiful city with a lake in the middle of it.

Is this your first time in Europe? If so, hit up the usual: Paris, Barcelona, Venice, etc. honestly I’d just get a train pas and map out a route going through every semi large town.

We’re traveling to Europe this summer for 3 weeks. It’ll just be husband and I. We will visit Rome, Florence, Berlin, London, Berlin and probably some other places, TBD. What should we put on our to-do list for those places that are must-haves? What other places should we consider visiting? Why?
