The same instructional superintendents' who, we gather, are putting pressure on principals to pass kids who don't meet the standards?

As a parent involved in the PTA I worked with her on some fairly intense issues involving our school and major changes happening to it. Overall the experience left me with a favorable impression - she is smart, picks her battles and her heart is in the right place.

As a parent, I've experienced her as very thoughtful and smart indeed, very focused and analytical. Great communicator. As Bowser said at her press conference, it's anyone's credibility communicating within, with teachers, administrators, students, that is key in the next steps DCPS has to take to keep rising. I would imagine she brings those qualities along there, too, but don't know that.

This is correct. She left Ross in 2010.

Maybe it’s time to get someone who moved up through the ranks and has roots in D.C. Hopefully a permanent chancellor won’t be chosen until after the June election. No need for education to become a political football.

I don't know anything about her, but I wish her the best of luck. Interim jobs are tough in general, and this one is extra difficult. I hope the promoting someone from within could find a real workhorse who is not all about the ego of winning a top post.

Starting a new thread here in hopes of a focus on the new Interim Chancellor.

I am particularly curious has anyone had experience as a parent or student at one of the DC schools she worked as a Principal?? Or worked with her central down town? Any chance she could stay and actually improve things with really innovation & better investments in our schools??

[Our IB is Bunkerhill, so I am more slightly aware of its history than the other schools listed. From neighbors & school community members there has been talk of a "good principal" or two at Bunkerhill "years ago" followed by a series of "not great" to "horrible principals" contributing to its past decline. It seems to be recovering, improving on a few levels (one of which is test score going up this year with the same student body) & growing is size and amenities (new school garden coming for example) with the current Principal & Staff.] I want to be encouraged that she has experience working in DC & NYC but it depends on how effective she was in those posts.
