My point was that this area is becoming more crowded, so there is more competition. Not that all of a sudden the area is now more into sports.

What planet are you from? In FCPS, Mclean and Langley HS tennis tryouts has 55+ boys and 30+ girls for about 14 spots on the varsity if I am not mistaken. It's been like this for years.

Why would there be 14 spots? I’d think there would be fewer than that.

Why would the coaches.. aka the expert on their sport, team and their plans for the season.. not choose their own players? Who do you suggest does that for team sport? The point of tryouts are for players to show the coach that they are the best athlete for the team!!!

I get that Potomac/McLean might be cutthroat for tennis due to a larger income bracket, but Western LoCo is not known for this. I guess the compete in everything craziness is slowly moving our way.

Most of the rosters are already determined prior to tryouts. Unless you are an amazing player you are not going to crack it, this includes freshmen who have been in the system a few years.

For the fall sports those in the system already know the training schedule for the summer, what team camp dates are etc.

Many of the coaches have been coaching these kids in club sports for years. Look at the most successful ones, they do it year after year because they have them in the system at by middle school.

We are a Potomac Falls family and any girl who tried out for the field hockey team got on, even those with no experience.
